Known by the four K's - Alicia, Beatriz, Josefina and Frank
Introduced to glass by the head of the family, Frank, like a "Hobby for Women," they opened K4 Glassart, expressions in glass in Caracas, Venezuela in 1983. Backgrounds of engineering, architecture and art are the basic skills of this family, now exclusively dedicated to the world of art glass. All further studied management and fused glass in the States and Germany. In 1991, Alicia and Beatriz opened K4 Glassart in Boston,MA.
Textured, their signature, comes from the hidden tropical jungles of Venezuela with its magnificent tepuis, waterfalls and windy streams, their transparent deep blue ocean surrounded by colorful corals and the sensuous soft sandy dunes of Coro. K4 designs are influenced not only by natural beauty but also by the family's architectural background, as geometric pure forms become the initial concept and texture is added for tactile perception and balance.
"Hey! After a few years we are convinced that fused glass is not just for women! Our father proudly joins our team concentrating his effort in deep carving sculptural pieces with slumped inserts, all one of a kind. Thanks, Dad.
K4 Glassart creates contemporary kiln-formed glass, sculptural, judaica line, home accents and tableware, resulting in unique pieces which give the feeling of unity and harmony through the relationship between glass and the metal support.
Our signature of textured fused glass designs combine layering or weaving laminated clear crystal strips of glass in conjunction with compatible enamels for color, to bring out the magnified optic effects. Sandblasting and metal support (pewter and aluminum) provide the feeling of unity and harmony."
